Participants hold the Kanuchichiji ceremony to connect a ”male” rope of the east side with a ”female” rope of the west side. Kanuchibo is 365 centimeters long and weighs 365 kilograms, and is strong enough to withstand thousands of contestants.
Historical figures from the Kingdom of the Ryukyus, such as Shohashi and Amawari, are carried on a Shitaku (Movable stage) from both sides to the center. They perform a brave performance, and finally the Tug of War begins.
